Route

Astana → Almaty → Medeo → Kok-Tobe → Charyn Canyon → Almaty → Tashkent → Samarkand → Gijduvan → Bukhara → Khiva → Urgench.

Day by day

  1. Arrival in Astana, check-in, free evening.
  2. Astana: Hazrat Sultan Mosque, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, the Bayterek monument.
  3. Astana continued: the old part of town, the First President’s museum.
  4. Flight to Almaty. Panfilov Park, the Green Bazaar, the Medeo gorge.
  5. Kok-Tobe hill, Charyn Canyon — the “Valley of Castles,” a picnic.
  6. Flight to Tashkent, check-in.
  7. Tashkent: Chorsu Bazaar, the museum of applied arts, lunch at the plov center. Drive to Samarkand.
  8. Samarkand: Registan Square, Gur-Emir mausoleum, Bibi-Khanym mosque, Shah-i-Zinda ensemble.
  9. Drive to Gijduvan — masterclass with the ceramicists. On to Bukhara in the evening.
  10. Bukhara: Samanid mausoleum, Ark fortress, Poi-Kalyan ensemble, Lyab-i Hauz.
  11. Drive to Khiva across the Kyzylkum desert.
  12. Khiva: Ichan-Kala, Kunya-Ark fortress, Tash-Khauli palace.
  13. Transfer to Urgench airport, departure.
