Golden Eagle's Grand Silk Road train puts Uzbekistan at the heart of a Beijing-to-Tashkent expedition

The ancient Silk Road is coming back to life on rails. On 21 September 2026, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains and GeoEx launch the inaugural Grand Silk Road expedition — a 22-day journey by private luxury train from Beijing to Tashkent, covering around 3,862 kilometres across five countries and some of the most storied landscapes on earth.

Uzbekistan forms the centrepiece of the route. After crossing in from Kazakhstan, passengers visit Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand, and Nukus — five destinations that together span more than two millennia of Silk Road history. Guided excursions lead into the Registan, through the blue-tiled mosques of Bukhara’s old city, around the ancient walls of Ichan Qala in Khiva, and onwards to the edge of the Karakalpakstan steppe.

According to Golden Eagle Luxury Trains, the train offers several cabin categories — from Silver Class compartments to spacious Imperial Suites — alongside restaurant cars, a bar, and onboard cultural programming. A second journey is already scheduled for August–September 2027, reflecting strong demand for the itinerary.

For Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, the launch is a powerful vote of confidence: when a prestigious name like Golden Eagle anchors its flagship Silk Road product here, it tells the global luxury-travel market that the ancient cities of the Zerafshan Valley and Khorezm are ready to welcome the world’s most discerning visitors.
